Here Today Gone Tomorrow!

Poor Luke has been filling out grad school applications, something I am not jealous of.  His top choice was Teach for America, and we were both kind of banking on it.  He applied and got to choose 10 cities to go to, our top two choices were North Carolina and Seattle, WA.  We were being kind of naive and overly excited and had been talking about moving to North Carolina for about two months before Luke even got his acceptance/denial letter.  Well, he got his letter.  And he got accepted!  I am so proud of him; there have been so many interviews, phone conferences, tests, essay questions, and so on.  He is going to be teaching high school Spanish, which is what he was really hoping for and I know that he will be amazing!
And as to where we will be living for the next two years...

JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA!
We were both a little shocked by this news at first, but we both very excited for the new adventures ahead.
Some fun Florida facts:
  • Jacksonville in the largest city in the continental United States
  • State law highlights that if an elephant is tied to a parking meter, then the fee must be paid just as if the elephant were a vehicle
  • Once a year, thousands of Floridians stand at the state line and toss dead fish into Alabama.
  • Florida is the 29th most obese state in the country
  • It is the only place on Earth where alligators and crocodiles co-exist in the same habitat.

  1. Congratulations! What exciting news. I have heard Teach For America is pretty competitive and difficult so way to go. Florida will be such a cool new experience. When do you guys move?
